India ranks first in the area and production of Pigeonpea globally. More than 90% of production is from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The major export markets are Algeria, The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sri Lanka, Turkey, and The United States of America (USA).
